Job Description

Ben Johnson Ltd are recruiting an Accountant for a great York based business looking to expand internationally and increase their UK operation. The role will report directly to the Financial Controller and will provide critical support to period end closing/reporting, budget & forecasting, project accounting and transactional Finance team management.

The role will provide an opportunity for someone looking to gain team management experience and our client is open to considering applications from part or fully qualified Accountants.

Key Duties include:

  • Co-ordinating the generation of committed costs report and circulate to PM pre-month end close
  • Supporting and managing the Sales & Purchase Ledgers & Expense ledger teams - helping with queries, sales ledger, purchase ledger & expenses administration
  • Reviewing & controlling Sales/Purchase ledgers, & expense procedures to ensure best practice is in place and appropriate working capital level is maintained
  • Co-ordinating period end financial close process. Ensure ledgers are shut in time, timesheets appropriately submitted, review journals posted
  • Co-ordinating & preparing monthly management reports for the board & key stakeholders
  • Reviewing & reconciling Trial Balance accounts post period-end to ensure accuracy of entry postings
  • Reviewing overhead budget spending, circulate & communicate with budget holders
  • Providing explanations of variances on overheads spend
  • Assisting in the preparation of budgets & forecasts in line with the strategy of the business
  • Assisting in the year-end accounts closure & annual audit process.

You will be able to get involved in a variety of interesting projects including setting up a new overseas office and assisting with implementing the financial aspects of a new ERP system. Key experience required:

  • Part or Fully CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified with experience already gained as an Accountant
  • Consolidation experience would be advantageous
  • Good Excel skills
