The role is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient maintenance
and repair service to St Monica Trust's retirement villages. The villages
consists of independent living flats and apartments, nursing care home,
head office, laundry, restaurant, gym and much more!
This is a position in which no two days are the same. The successful
candidate will have a background in plumbing and / or electrics and a
high standard of general maintenance work. Your varied skills will
include general electrical work; plumbing; testing; carpentry; lighting
etc. You'll be able to assess problems and undertake courses of action
with limited day to day supervision. Much of your time will be spent
working independently; however you can expect to be in close contact with
your team members across Cote Lane and other St Monica Trust sites,
including a Supervisor and Facilities Manager.
The role requires strong planning and organising skills - you'll be
responsible for planning your own day and ensuring that jobs are
completed within agreed time scales. The phones are generally busy and
you'll be entering people's homes and working environments - as such
you'll be a good communicator and able to build a rapport quickly with
people. You'll be used to liaising with suppliers and able to collect
stock and equipment off-site when required. A driving licence is
essential for this post. You'll work well within a team and be able to
refer work that is out of your expertise. All teams within St Monica
Trust are dedicated to the well-being and safety of our residents;
previous experience of working with older people would be desirable.
