Materials Manager

A Leicester based global manufacturer is looking to recruit a Materials Manager to join their ever expanding operation. The role of Materials Manager is to facilitate the manufacture of goods through the fabrication, coating and assembly departments to meet the needs of the customer's order requirements. This is accomplished by procuring the exact material at the precise time, appropriately providing support and work orders to the production departments to allow manufacture at the exact time, and providing support to the commercial teams that allows clear and concise correspondence with our customers.

Responsibilities

* Liaise with multiple departments (engineering, production and commercial) to ensure OTIF
* Developing and managing forecasting for short and long range material planning
* Analysing stock levels and product demands
* Reviewing material shortages, stock outages and safety stock levels
* Managing suppliers to maintain OTIF
* Provide clear and concise information along with respective logistical support to the production departments to enable OTIF
* Work closely with the engineering and commercial depart to ensure that the customer requirements are correctly understood and translated to all relevant cells
* Manage Import / Export compliance obligations
* Manage the procurement process for non-customer order requirements
* Work with the prod-admin team to realise YOY material purchase savings of 2%
* Manage the shipment of all goods and items from the site
* Provide clear communication to customers with all order updates
* Provide support to the operations manager and site to enable the strategic goals of the site to be met
* Measure and monitor relevant KPI's to maintain the strategic objectives of the site

The Candidate

* Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
* Basic knowledge of project management
* Proficient user of computer systems (MS Windows, MS Office and a knowledge of ERP/MRP system)
* Ability to analyse problems, find alternative solutions, and to successfully and confidently action those solutions
* Be self-driven to learn new skills and take on responsibilities
* Able to clearly communicate information and establish dialogue to reach a consensus in difficult situations
* Experience of import compliance would be advantageous
