Opportunity to work for a global company in a brand new position at senior management level with them. The company have been performing consistently well in recent years and staff have been benefiting from an excellent benefits package including company performance related bonus.
The purchasing manager will report into an operations director onsite and you will be responsible for the day to day management and strategic forecasting of a small purchasing team working for a company who have been established for well over 50 years and sell their products globally on most continents.
As the purchasing manager, your duties will include:
- Day to day management and mentoring of a small purchasing team
- Establishing and maintaining measurable performance metrics for all levels of procurement activities in areas such as supplier performance, activity levels, financial performance and material shortage.
- Ensuring performance improvement plans are developed, issued, tracked and reported on
- Negotiating and executing purchase orders or vendor contracts as needed to support critical business needs
- Managing material flow to ensure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on-time customer deliveries
- Strategically developing and implementing commodity/supply chain strategies covering all commodities, services and supplier processes to deliver maximum value, leverage, and standardisation
To be successful in your application for the purchasing manager position, you will need the following.
- Experience within a manufacturing environment (ideally within an engineering-focused environment with a high level of bespoke products being produced)
- Management / supervisory experience over a purchasing / procurement team.
- Demonstrated ability to create cost savings and be involved in long-term strategic procurement.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Excellent people management skills
In return the purchasing manager will receive a salary of up to £50,000 + pension (matched up to 5%), private medical cover, 25 days holiday plus Bank holidays and an annual company performance related bonus of up to 10%.
