It is an exciting time to join Mencap as we continue to build relationships and deliver an excellent service to our internal and external customers. We are looking for a Compliance Officer based in Peterborough on a full-time,permanent contract, who will support and take direction from the Compliance Manager in the day-to-day management of monitoring compliance across Mencap's personal support services in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The successful Compliance Officer will work closely with the Compliance Manager, to ensure that Mencap's personal support services are identified and properly registered in accordance with the specific requirements of the external regulatory bodies (Care Quality Commission, Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority, Care Inspectorate Wales and OFSTED). In this role you will assist colleagues across Mencap to evidence compliance with internal and external requirements. They will maintain systems to ensure that compliance activities are appropriately recorded and reported in a prompt and timely manner in accordance with the requirements of the external regulators and other agreed reporting programmes.

We need someone who can hit the ground running which means ideally you'll be qualified at a degree standard in law or have strong commercial/ corporate working experience. This role is extremely varied so requires an individual that can multi-task, prioritise, take direction and work on their own initiative.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience required:

  • Ability to prepare and interpret numerical and factual data and explain to others in a clear succinct manor
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently, on own initiative prioritising effectively with minimal direction
  • Strong attention to detail skills with the ability to manage conflicting priority's
  • Ability to write clear, concise letters and reports
  • Ability to manage processes and reviewing and implementing changes
  • Recognised legal qualification/s or strong working experience

However, it is essential that you are very familiar with Microsoft Office Suite (including Microsoft excel) and Office 365.
