BAM Construction is recruiting an Assistant Design Manager, to be based in the North East region of our construction business, based out of the Regional office in Leeds.

About the role

With an understanding of design activities and construction processes, assisting all design management aspects of a project from tender through to completion, you will be expected to work within a project team of all disciplines from bid stage through to practical completion.

You will focus on the management of the design development including:

• Involvement in the bid, preconstruction and construction phases, being based both on site and in the BAM Leeds or Gateshead offices.

• Ensuring designs are developed within the constraints of the contract, the requirements of the output specification and the commercial objectives.

• Reporting to the Project Manager assist in the design development and management in line with BAM procedures

• Identify design risks and opportunities and help manage them, developing a fully co-ordinated and practical design working with designers, specialist supply chain and project team

• Work in, and help manage the BIM environment including development of federated models and production of asset information

• Assisting in the coordination of the whole design process and working closely with all stakeholders including the client, employer's representatives, design team and legislative bodies.

• Attending design team meetings and minute taking (when requested) and monitor actions.

• Managing the document control process within the common data environment, in line with BAM BIM processes, supported by a document controller.

• Maintaining a professional and collaborative approach with clients and their professional teams, sub-contractors and suppliers

Who are we looking for?

To succeed in this role you will have:

• Have at least 2 years experience working in a similar role

• A degree qualification or equivalent

• A good understanding of the design and construction processes from inception, through design to on site construction and handover.

• Knowledge of 3D design / BIM technology and a desire to develop this further

• Well-developed team working and influencing ability

• Be enthusiastic, proactive, and collaborative and have self-drive

• Experience working within a similar role is desirable.
