Peabody has an exciting opportunity for a Mediation & Health and Well-being Worker to join the team based in London. You will be there on a part time, fixed term basis, and you will receive a competitive salary of £17,200 per annum (based on full time equivalent of £21,500).

Greenwich Young People Floating Support Service offers visiting support to young people aged between 16 and 25 in the borough of Greenwich. The service provides support to people in their own accommodation, whether this is privately rented, shared, supported housing or living with family or friends.

The Mediation & Health and Well-being Worker role:

To co-ordinate a range of groups/programmes within Greenwich’s Young People service, to improve the health, well-being and employability of the customers. The successful candidate will identify partner agencies to help deliver positive programmes for our customers with the aim of improving physical and emotional well-being, overcoming barriers to independence and improving opportunities for customers in the employment market.

The customer group is varied and consists of vulnerable young people with complex needs, including mental health, substance misuse and physical health issues.

Key Responsibilities of our Mediation & Health and Well-being Worker:

Health and Well-being:
- Develop and organise a range of health, wellbeing and employability programmes to run in the borough of Greenwich. You will be required to run consultation programmes with customers to achieve the most positive outcomes
-Work with partner agencies in the setting up and delivery of programmes

- Complete assessments and act as mediator to young people
- Where appropriate, to mediate within the extended family and deal with issues arising from disputed matters between family members

For Both Roles:
- Work with colleagues to manage risks to customers, staff and the community
- Liaise promptly with colleagues, partner agencies and other stakeholders regarding safeguarding, welfare and risk concerns in accordance with Peabody policy

Skills and experience require of our Mediation & Health and Well-being Worker:

- Experience of providing support, or activity co-ordination either in a volunteering or professional role
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people or hard to reach customers with complex needs
- Accredited Mediation qualification or a willingness to complete training
- An understanding of how mediation can support young people to build relationships and prevent homelessness / return home
- Understanding of the barriers that can limit the engagement of young people
- Thorough and up to date knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults and children local policies, protocols and good practice
