Legal Innovation Manager - Manchester/Leeds

Innovation Manager Level of Role: Senior Manager Department: Legal Technology & Innovation Reporting Line: Head Legal Technology & Innovation Location: Manchester with regular travel to other UK offices - relocation package available Purpose of the Role A Senior Manager will contribute to the strategic development of the team as well as being involved in the more complex, significant technical fee earning work the team undertakes. They will also have line management and work allocation responsibility for at least six Legal Technology and Innovation Paralegals/Technologists.DutiesProviding significant input into the ongoing development and direction of Legal Technology and Innovation, which will include leading specific team development projects?? Scoping, defining and managing significant technical projects undertaken by the Legal Technology and Innovation team and acting as a key contact point for the Divisions?? Defining the way the team assess, prioritises and delivers work, from initial enquiry through to delivery, and defining and implementing more effective ways of working through the better use of people, process and/or technology?? Line managing members of the Innovation and Legal Technology Team including day to day management and regular appraisals?? Contributing to a programme of training and development within the Legal Technology and Innovation Team?? Support the Development of technology platforms used by the Legal Technology and Innovation team and sharing that knowledge more widely across the Firm?? Engaging across the Firm to promote Legal Technology and Innovation including attending internal and external meetings and proactively identifying and promoting opportunities to use technology to solve problems?? Liaising with IT, Infosec, Risk and procurement to ensure the team can react quickly to change whilst operating within firm guidelines for security?? Understanding and applying principles of the IT strategy to deliver innovative solutions which support the firm's longer term technology strategy?? Deputising for the Head of Legal Technology and InnovationKnowledge, skills and experience required ?? Prior experience of working in a technical change environment preferably within the legal sector?? Project management / change delivery experience?? An understanding of the challenges affecting law firms and the changing legal services market?? An understanding of how legal work is delivered?? Good understanding of law firm environment and commercials (i.e. financials)?? People management experience required?? Strong influencing skills and an ability to get buy-in from others?? Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a challenging fast-paced environment?? Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload according to business need
