The Firm At Addleshaw Goddard we not only provide technical excellence and experience but, crucially, demonstrate real insight into our clients and what really matters to them. A natural choice for FTSE100 clients and for the best talent, our people fulfil their potential in an environment where they are developed and valued. They think in our clients' shoes, as part of a team - effective business people as well as efficient lawyers. Division and Team The Environment Team forms part of the Firm's Construction, Engineering and Environment practice and is based in the Real Estate division. We work with teams across the firm on a variety of matters and with clients in a wide range of sectors including retail and consumer, infrastructure, manufacturing, transport, waste, energy, utilities and chemicals. Unlike many of our competitors' teams, we work on both contentious and non-contentious environmental matters. We advise clients on environmental compliance issues, incident response and reporting, as well as enforcement and prosecutions. The Team also works alongside colleagues in our Corporate, Banking and Real Estate teams ensuring that environmental risk is understood and appropriately managed in transactions. We also work closely with our litigation teams including Real Estate Disputes and Health and Safety. The Role We are looking for a junior lawyer who can cover a spread of advisory, contentious and transactional work and who had a genuine enthusiasm for and interest in environmental law. Knowledge, skills and experience required (bespoke to role) In addition to a genuine interest in this practice area, any successful applicant will preferably have the following: Environmental experience during your training contract or post-qualification experience or a good understanding of how environmental matters are regulated; Experience in providing advice, negotiating and drafting on a variety of transactions - due diligence experience is preferable; Experience advising on environmental regulation for example, waste, permitting, producer responsibility and climate change or in dealing with clients facing enforcement action; Excellent research skills; and Good academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree (or lower where you have a proven track record of dealing with matters involving advising on complex or technically challenging environmental regulation).
