We are looking for a suitably experienced Clinical or Forensic Psychologist, or forensic psychotherapist, with established capabilities in working with people with personality disorders in NHS Secure Care Services and/or Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), for a post of Principal Psychologist in the Close Supervision Centre at HMP Full Sutton, near York.

This NHS post within Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is co-commissioned as part of the Offender Personality Disorder Strategy, which emphasises close partnership working between the NHS and prison/probation services in delivering psychologically informed and evidence-based interventions to those with personality disorders who engage in serious offending behaviour. The post holder will provide clinical leadership including direct clinical work, programme development and evaluation, staff training and development and representation at regional/national OPD events, including Psychologically Informed Planned Environment (PIPE) network meetings.

Highly effective relational skills and the ability to work successfully in partnership teams where there is a need to respect potential diversity in organisational cultures, values and aims are essential. The post holder will require effective personal reflection and resilience skills in working with this challenging group of offenders and in understanding the impact on staff within the organisational systems around them.
