HRGO are looking for a Technical Administrator for a local company. This role will suit someone who is looking for a career within the design industry and has an interest in CAD and technical drawings. They are looking for an experience person in this area or someone who would want to train in this field. There would be the opportunity for training in the technical aspects of estimating and designing trussed rafters and/or engineered floor systems if the candidate wanted to develop additional skills, also supporting them by doing a day release to college. The Technical Administrator will report to the General Manager, will assist the technical design & estimating staff with the production of paperwork relating to the design and manufacture of roof trusses and engineered floors.

Duties include:

  • The input and manipulation of data using an industry specific database program (MBA) to create documents itemising components to form trussed rafter roofs and/or engineered floors.

  • The production of manufacturing documentation for issue to the factory. This will include the printing, sorting and compiling of sets of papers for each truss type. The printing and folding of large (A1) drawings. The writing of job cards and associated manufacturing documentation.

  • Liaison with customers by e-mail. This will generally be the sending and receiving of drawings.

  • Creation and maintenance of Excel spreadsheets relating to the supply of roof trusses and/or floors to building sites.

  • Printing and folding of large (A1) drawings.

  • Other more general administration tasks as and when required. For example, answering the phone, preparation of post, filing etc.

Qualifications required:

A level (or equivalent) in mathematics and preferably a science subject.

Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and e-mail applications.

A knowledge of CAD and/or experience of the timber engineering industry would be a distinct advantage.

Experience relating to building/construction and the reading of drawings would be useful, but is not essential.

Hours of Work:

The standard office working hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm (40 hours per week). However, we would be willing to make reasonable adjustments to these hours for the right candidate.

The location is difficult to reach by public transport so own transport would be preferably. This is a great opportunity to work for a professional and well-established company.
