My client is a leading law firm and are looking to hire a Qualified Conveyancer to join their thriving, successful team.
The successful Qualified Conveyancer will be part of a small team dedicated to providing a first class customer service experience to clients referred to our business by a dedicated group of property professionals.
Qualifications required for the Conveyancer role
Qualified Residential Conveyancer - Solicitor, CILEx or CLC qualified
Skills/Competencies of the Qualified Conveyancer
- To assist the HOD with the development of the Conveyancing and Commercial Property Team to achieve profitable growth
- Deputise in the absence of the HOD on technical issues along with man management of all staff issues within the team, holidays, sickness, complaints, working issues etc.
- Have the ability to manage a caseload independently with the minimum of supervision
- Possess detailed and sound conveyancing knowledge and be confident when dealing with a mixed caseload which will consist mainly of residential properties
- Motivate and nurture staff members whilst maintaining your own caseload
- Target driven with an eye for business and commercial awareness whilst maintaining exceptional client care
- Strong communication skills with an ability to work within a team and is comfortable assisting more experienced staff
- Feel comfortable managing a substantial caseload of 70-100 files including Landlord and Tenant, Freehold, Leasehold, New-Build, Unregistered, Shared Ownership Right to Buy and Help to Buy
- Team leading or managerial experience would be useful but is not absolutely necessary
- Familiar with all areas of the conveyancing process and have a methodical approach to working while also being technically strong
- Provide a high standard of legal advice to residential property clients, maintaining awareness of current legal matters
- Experienced in sales and purchases and it is expected that you will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in the field of residential property
- You will be expected to work with other fee earners within the department and manage your caseload efficiently, cost effectively, following systems and standards laid down by the practice
- Deal with correspondence and paperwork as appropriate, achieve billing and time targets and render bills in a timely and commercial manner
- To comply with all policies and procedures at all times
- To deal effectively with clients and introducers both over the telephone and in written
- correspondence in order to provide advice and assistance to them in relation to residential property matters in England and Wales
- To provide the highest level of customer service to clients and introducers at all times
- To provide updates to clients and introducers frequently and wherever appropriate
- To return communications from clients and introducers within 2 hours wherever possible and within 24 hours without exception
- Verify client identification in accordance with the AML policy and procedure
- To maintain accurate and up to date records on all required applications at all times for the benefit of all parties and team members
- The timely and accurate preparation of contract papers
- Undertake OS1 and bankruptcy searches
- Review and answer additional enquiries
- Where appropriate to request additional information from third parties
- To progress matters to exchange in a timely manner
- The accurate and timely production of the file for exchange sign off
- The exchanging of contracts
- Prepare accurate and timely bills and completion statements
- To retrieve funds from clients in a timely manner to effect completion
- To report on Mortgage offers and Searches (where requested)
- The preparation of SDLT documentation
- The accurate and timely logging on of incoming items
- Undertake completion day procedures
- To promote and develop the business (as required)
- To attend courses relevant to your position
- To maintain a good up to date working knowledge of relevant aspects of the law other than those specified above to allow cross discipline advice to be given
- To keep up to date with changes in the law and maintain and disseminate information to other colleagues in relation thereof
- To attend and contribute to team meetings
- To undertake such administrative duties as the HOD may reasonably require from time to time
- To observe strict credit control in relation to client matters in which you have prime
- responsibility
- To act in the best interest of the firm undertaking the above tasks and others reasonably considered by the firm
- To deal with such matters as the firm may reasonably require form time to time
