The Welsh Bridge Union Chief Executive

Introduction

The Welsh Bridge Union, with some 2,200 members, is a non-profit-making body with the role of organising duplicate contract bridge within Wales. It is recognised as the National Bridge Organisation for Wales by the European Bridge League and World Bridge Federation of which it is a member. It is represented on Bridge Great Britain, the organising body for the Home Internationals and British Championships. Its main function is the running of national bridge events for Wales, selection and support for teams representing Wales, and regulation of its members within the International Laws of Bridge. It has a promotional and educational role in encouraging the playing of duplicate contract bridge within Wales and the provision of services to its members.

The WBU has a democratic structure.

At its Annual General Meeting its constitution specifies the election of a President, Hon Treasurer, Hon Secretary, Master Points Secretary, and National Tournament Organiser. The holders of these posts receive a non-commercial Honorarium.

The Union has four Areas (North, Mid, West and East) electing delegates to a Council that, together with the elected officers, oversee the affairs of the Union. The Council meets at least twice per year.
