City College Plymouth is seeking to recruit a Learning Support Mentor (mental health) to provide support for our students.
Working to specific professional guidelines and internal policies/procedures, the role will include 1:1 and group mentoring sessions and interventions for students who experience mental ill health. The mentor will help students to build resilience and competence in self-management of their mental health difficulty. The mentor is expected to deliver a ‘stepped care’ support model within a multi-disciplinary team context through self-help, peer support programmes, physical activity referrals, online sources of help, College teams and, where appropriate, through referral to more specialised support such as CAMHS and Adult Services.
The role also offers the opportunity to be involved in staff training and health promotional activities across the entire College community that help to reduce mental health stigma and promote positive wellbeing.
City College Plymouth is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The College is an equal opportunities employer.
