Our Agriculture, Farms and Estates team is one of the largest teams of rural lawyers in the country acting for some of the biggest private landowners in the UK. The team have established genuine long-term client relationships characterised by trust and affection, they rely on their thorough understanding of all countryside issues and why shouldn't they? With over 200 years' experience of providing multi-disciplinary advice to landowners, they know they're in good hands. Just because we're big, though, doesn't mean we've lost our personal touch. It's the quality and commerciality of our service, our industry insight and the talent and passion of our people that engages our clients, and they love what we do. It also means that our people are engaged, and excited about the opportunities for growth and development in our business - there is no doubt that it's an exciting place to be. The team led by Partner, Simon Kirkup, has an exciting opportunity for a lawyer to join them in Newcastle providing a genuine chance to join a highly motivated and supportive team with a wealth of relevant experience. What will you be doing? You'll be working closely with lawyers in the wider Real Estate and Private Client teams, providing comprehensive advice to clients with agricultural property on instructions ranging from supporting landowner clients buying and selling property, or promoting land for development by way of options or promotion agreements, through all aspects of management of rural assets, including tenancy issues and planning, to both the implementation of green energy schemes and the letting of land for these purposes. You'll also be acting for lenders to rural borrowers wishing to offer agricultural land as security, but with one or more challenging factors. What does the ideal candidate look like? You'll either be a qualified lawyer who has had exposure to quality real estate work (albeit not necessarily in agriculture) during your early career or a more experienced real estate lawyer welcoming the challenge of a move into this specialist area. Just as important are excellent drafting skills, a sense of commercial pragmatism and the desire and ability to build long lasting relationships with rural clients. So what makes it so great to work here? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit and supportive team where you can learn from true leaders in their field and build your experience with access to great quality work and great clients. Supported by a collegiate approach, and firm wide commitment to lawyer development there are fewer better places to start your career as a qualified lawyer or continue your career as a lawyer. And that's not all, alongside a competitive salary you'll receive a flexible benefits package so you can pick and choose between the benefits that matter most to you.
