Our client based in South Leicestershire, are looking to recruit an EXPERIENCED Assistant Buyer to join their small, friendly team on a Full Time, Permanent basis. This will be an exciting role that will offer plenty of variety to the potential candidate who will be joining. You will ideally be self-motivated and keen to continually learn.

Job Summary

To assist the Purchasing Manager in a day-to-day running of the department's activities, sourcing of supplies, placing orders and checking delivery. Also maintaining and monitoring stock levels for production materials and processing purchase ledger invoices.

Duties & Responsibilities

* To be aware of and follow the contents of the company systems, procedures and polices
* Raise purchases orders for various suppliers in accordance to HRC processes
* Tracking orders through to completion
* Processing delivery notes and receiving goods on to an electronic stock control system
* Liaising with the Sales department with regards to expected material lead-times
* Contacting suppliers to obtain quotes for materials and lead-times
* Communicate and escalate where appropriate any issues with supply chain contacts
* Fill out weekly spreadsheet for parts with stock holding summaries and update accordingly
* Reconciling purchase orders and invoices
* General administration as required, including filing/archiving of invoices and purchases
* Deputise during the Purchasing Manager
* Maintain records and update where required performance data systems
* Follow the HRC training folder for guidance with purchasing software package
* Offer support in the other areas as required

* Good administrative background with excellent organisational and communication skills
* Ability to work under own initiative
* Numerate and good computer literacy skills - proficient in MS Excel/Word etc.
* Excellent and clear written communication skills
* Logical thinking and reasoning skills
* Proven negotiation skills
* Good technical aptitude
* Process Improvement
