Lifeworks College is a small, independent, specialist further education college for students with learning disabilities. We are now looking for a Job Coach to support incredible young people to achieve their career ambitions on a part time basis, working 772.5 annualised hours.

As a Job Coach, you’ll be tasked with working with young people at the Lifeworks College in Totnes to enable them to pursue their ambitions and gain sustainable employment.
You will build relationships with local employers to develop work-related opportunities and drive professional experiences, placements and internships for college attendees.
Within this engaging and complex role, you will help young people to understand the world of work and enable them to build a realistic idea of their role within it. You’ll support and instruct young people regarding job roles, enable them to understand the principles of career building and help to tailor training and coaching to meet their needs.
Working with ambitious young people, your role will be focused on providing them with experiences and information about professional life and plan to help them achieve their goals. The independence of the young people you are guiding will be your goal and you will achieve this through support, mentoring, advocacy, observation and analysis.
Interested? If so, you will need:
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people with learning disabilities and/or complex and challenging behaviour
- Experience of working with individuals and groups of young people
- Level 3 Certificate for Supported Employment Practitioners is desirable
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel
- Experience of TEACCH and/or Systematic Instruction or Supported Employment models
- A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle that can be used for work purposes

Personable, friendly and approachable, as a Job Coach, you will have a structured and methodical approach, be practical, enthusiastic and proactive and believe in supporting young people. Highly motivated, you’ll be influential, and able to build relationships with others.
This is a part time role working 772.5 hours per year. This will be calculated to be three days in term one, two days in term two and one day in term three.
