North Somerset Council is looking to appoint a newly qualified or experienced person to help develop and move forward Highway Asset Management.

The role will be to order and manage condition surveys and analyse data so as to compile a programme of future works using Asset Management principles. To write design briefs, to inform Highway Engineers’ decisions on treatment types. The production and updating of the council’s Asset Management plans and strategies to inform future policy. There will also be a role in responding to public and internal enquiries regarding policy and scheme selection.

The role is a key position that will have a unique opportunity to influence and determine planned future highway maintenance across North Somerset in these financially challenging times.

The role will be supported by the existing team members to support or develop your skills in highway asset management and understand the council’s policy and strategy.

The post forms part of the Highway and Environmental Asset Team which is responsible for Structures, Highway Asset Management and Highway Material Testing.

The successful candidate will be qualified to NVQ level 4 or higher in Geography; GIS; Civil Engineering or other relevant subject and preferably have experience in data management as well as a knowledge of asset management principles.  You will have enthusiasm to make a difference and be flexible with the ability to engage with the public and employees at all levels.
