Commercial Property Lawyer
Key responsibilities
To act upon instructions and carry the objectives of in-house clients
into full and lawful effect, drawing on personal skills, expertise and
knowledge.
To deliver clear, consistent and accurate legal advice to officers,
members and clients on all matters relating to property work.
To notify the Senior Lawyer of any instructions or events that would
result in a breach by the Council or an individual of any legislation.
To undertake a range of legal work including (but not limited to):
* Acquisition and disposal of freehold properties both registered
and unregistered;
* Leasehold transactions including the grant of commercial leases;
* Easements and wayleaves;
* Applications to register land as asset of community value;
* Various licences.
To independently maintain a demanding case load, prioritising work
according to client need.
Assist the Legal Manager to develop a smooth running, highly effective
and proactive service across the Council, looking at continuous
improvement in delivery, and delivering in accordance with the vision
set by the Council.
To advise on enquiries and issues relating to:
* Title queries;
* Land registration and stamp duty land tax matters
