East Lancashire Secondary - September Start - Science HLTA - Initial 12 month contract

A school in the East Lancashire area that is easily accessible from the M65 are seeking to appoint a science specialist Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work across KS3 and KS4 with a varied mix of abilities, on an initial 12 month contract. This post is full time Mon-Fri from September 2018

Your new role
As a higher level teaching assistant you will be working across both key stage 3 and 4 supporting the science faculty in delivering science interventions across the board. You will have a key role in the classroom supporting students, and be available to stand in and provide whole class cover when a classroom teacher is unavailable. Classes will vary from general science, biology, chemistry, and physics.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need to either hold strong grades at A-Level science(s) or be degree qualified within a similar science based capacity. Candidates with formal TA/HLTA qualifications that have worked within a similar capacity within science are urged to apply. All candidates will need to have a DBS completed in preparation for September, this can be applied for if necessary. You must have experience of working with children in some learning/sport/volunteer capacity, and this experience must be referenceable. SEN experience is advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return
You will be paid through Hays Education until October half term and then be paid directly by the school following this period at HLTA salary. The existing science faculty and SLT are eager to provide the best provision to the schools students, and you will have the support and guidance from your team around you. You will receive free CPD certified safeguarding and child protection training before starting the position.
