Product Development resides in the cap hpi head office; just across the road from Leeds train station. The department focuses on two main areas:

1) Our UK product suite that our company has become famous for 
2) Our Global expansion – enhancing our data offering leveraging the existing datasets and global reach of our parent company Solera to expand our customer base across the world.

Regardless of the area, all our development teams follow Scrum principles – usually working in fortnightly sprints from an ordered backlog.  

There is free access to online technical training courses to support and assist with developing technical skills, everyone gets a Visual Studio subscription, and there are opportunities to attend developer conferences/seminars that are relevant and of interest. We provide lunch and tech talk sessions to help us to stay ahead of the game and are proud to produce regular articles for our. To break up the day, and to allow time away from your screen, we have table football, pool and an arcade machine in the office.

Once a month we have an informal ‘’beer and crisps’’ get-together where we catch up on new developments and wins. We also like to celebrate company success, funding legendary summer and winter parties. Teams also take part in a quarterly incentive which is linked to our performance against financial targets

We’re on the hunt for an experienced Senior SQL Developer, who ranks in the top quartile among their peers. Someone who has a highly competitive and entrepreneurial mindset that is wired with a team-first attitude, has no problem rolling up their sleeves to execute their missions, and can modulate between leading and following as needed. As a member of the Product Development team, you will be responsible for delivering projects related to the technical development, support and maintenance of the company’s customer facing applications and internal applications to defined standards and to a high quality. You will champion areas of technologies, assist in defining standards, interact and communicate with other areas of the business, gather requirements and effectively manage expectations.

As a Senior SQL Developer, you will have a strong working knowledge of the design and maintenance of relational databases.  You will develop solutions, from often complex requirements, to defined standards, helping to define those standards, and are an expert of the relevant technology stack. You will keep on top of the latest technologies and bring innovation and motivation to the team. You will aid other team members in a coaching and mentoring capacity and deputise for your Team Leader on a regular basis.

What You’ll Be Doing within the Senior Database Developer

• Deliver work streams in an Agile environment to time, cost and quality objectives
• Suggest innovative approaches to new and existing ways of working
• Maintain a strong technical understanding and promote the use of the latest software, technologies and automation
• Develop robust, resilient solutions that meet the cap hpi standards
• Provide third line, technical support of cap hpi products and services
• Advocate testing, change and release management processes
• Suggest and deliver continuous improvement items aligned with the strategic direction of Product Development

Coach and mentor colleagues in own areas of expertise to contribute to project deliverables and team development

Are you qualified for the Senior Database Developer Role?

• Have over 3 years’ experience of delivering IT development projects
• A related degree or equivalent qualifications / experience
• Have over 3 years’ experience as a Database Developer
• High attention to detail
• Flexibility
• Forward-thinking with drive and determination
• Strong analytical & solution design skills
• Team player with the ability to work independently where needed

• Coaching and mentoring of other team members

Required Technical Experience:

• Latest version of Microsoft SQL Server
• Strong T-SQL skills in a SQL Server environment (from a BI and Transactional systems perspective)

• SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Relational database design
• ETL solution design
• Latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio
• SQL Management Studio
