The University is undergoing an ambitious transformational change programme. Financially robust, and near the completion of a £400 million redevelopment programme, the University is investing a further £150 million to underpin teaching, learning, research and student experience activities.
The Estates Department is looking to recruit an Advanced Fitter for planned, reactive and out of hour’s maintenance duties. The work will involve maintaining the University’s fixed and mobile equipment.
The ideal candidate will hold a City and Guilds Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. You will have an understanding of mechanical building services and plant as well as boiler/heating systems. You will pocess both the necessary practical and theoretical skills to diagnose and rectify faults on mechanical building services plant and installations.
Good communication skills and the ability to work on own initative as well as part of a team are essential. As part of the role you will be included on the rota to cover overnight, weekend and University closure periods on emergency call out.
