Senior Planning Lawyer (Inside IR35)

Location: Ipswich IP1

Job Type: Temporary from 16.05.18 - 10.08.18 working Full time from
09.00am - 18.00pm (Inside IR35)

My public sector client are looking to recruit a Senior Planning
Lawyer on a full time temporary basis in London, SE18. The Senior
Planning Lawyer is required to:

- undertake an extensive caseload of complex legal work as a senior
member of the team providing high level advice services to Elected
Members (including Committees), senior managers, staff and external
clients in accordance with legal/professional standards and in a way
that reflects the Clients Legal Services values.

- appear on behalf of the Client and other external clients at the
Magistrates' Court, County Court, Tribunals and Inquiries as required
and to instruct Counsel to appear in Higher Court matters.

- provide legal advice to Elected Members (including Committees),
senior managers, staff and external clients on a range of complex
matters in the areas covered by the Team which have substantial
implications for the Client and require a consistently high degree of
support, persuasion and awareness of the Client's major policy
objectives.

- advise Elected Members and senior managers on the legal implications
of transformation and development projects in the service areas
covered by the team which have extensive policy or service
implications in order to improve customer outcomes or meet medium term
financial strategy targets.

- keep abreast of legal developments in the legal practice area of the
team and help to ensure that the Team operates in accordance with
modern good practice, legal/regulatory requirements and authority
policies/procedures.

- ensure that recruitment, training, development, appraisal,
performance, workload allocation, supervision, quality assurance, risk
and other management activities for the staff under the post holder's
management are carried out in accordance with authority
policy/procedures.

- participate in working parties and corporate groups across the
Client and to represent the Client as appropriate at external
meetings.

- undertake all duties with due regard to the provisions of health and
safety regulations and legislation, the Client's Equal Opportunities
and Customer Care policies, and the New Technology agreement.

To apply for this role you will need:

- Qualified solicitor or barrister or chartered legal executive.

- A track record of providing legal advice and support at a Senior
level in the subject area of Planning law

- Experience of management or supervision and development of qualified
and unqualified staff Experience of working under own initiative and
as part of a Team

- Experience of working under pressure and prioritising caseload.

Rate: GBP26.14/Hour Umbrella/Ltd (Inside IR35)
