A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Heritage Project Coordinator to join our team at Belong Nottingham. In return we offer a competitive salary of £ 21603.00 per annum include pension contribution in line with government NEST pension scheme, flexible working hours by arrangement and an opportunity for training and career development.

Belong is a Nottingham based charity committed to promoting and facilitating social and economic integration of migrants predominantly of African origin, especially but not exclusively for refugees and asylum seekers.

The Heritage Officer will be responsible for engaging the Nottingham black African community with our Heritage Project. She/he will encourage enthusiasm to depict David Livingstone’s tales but more crucially and importantly to uncover the heritage from African perspective and influence the African culture has had overtime to the British society.

Duties will involve:

  • Set and meet project goals, deadlines, and expectations.
  • Plan, schedule, and provide services including educational workshops, seminars, and other meetings within the scope of the project.
  • Recruit volunteers and community participants for project events/activities/workshops.
  • Event planning and organizing project logistics: guest speakers, service providers, order of materials, classroom set up, location, transportation etc.
  • Create and maintain partner and client relationships (build partnerships and network with heritage and community agencies, as well as other key players).
  • Market and promote program activities and volunteer opportunities through various outlets including radio, newspaper, newsletters, social media, and public events.
  • Create and distribute information resources, including press releases, program posters, brochures, flyers, and other materials.
  • Oversee the production of website, web trail and learning packs.
  • Monitor outcomes and outputs, compile statistics and reports on a monthly      basis and produce final evaluation report.

The successful Heritage Project Coordinator will have:

  • Significant experience of working in or with the voluntary sector
  • Knowledge of the voluntary and community sector – its characteristics and principles
  • Knowledge of the barriers and challenges to partnership working and experience of building and maintaining working partnerships with voluntary, community, public and private agencies
  • Experience of researching and evaluating complex information, translating into plain English to a variety of formats for a range of audiences
  • Experience of working with disadvantaged groups
  • An understanding of equality and diversity and the importance of this within the Voluntary and Community sector
  • Experience of identifying and solving problems
  • Working on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Successful programme/project management and implementation
  • Ability to demonstrate continuous improvement and self-development
  • Experience of enabling others to identify and achieve their own goals
  • Highly developed communication and presentation skills using a range of methods.
  • Ability to network, influence and work productively with people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Ability to communicate complex information and advice effectively, both verbally and in written form, to a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive and productive working relationships with a range of people
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as flexibly, sensitively and co-operatively within a team and with external partners
  • Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Be open to a range of opinions, beliefs and attitudes within an equality/diversity framework

The hours of work are full time, 37 Hours a week, Monday to Friday.

The position is based on a 12 month fixed term contract initially with the option to extend to 16 months.
