Domestic Bursar
Up to £75,000, depending on experience
The role of the Domestic Bursar is challenging and varied. One day is never the same and this diversity, coupled with working in a beautiful, unique and multifaceted environment, is what makes this role so exceptionally rewarding.
This senior level position is responsible for ensuring the delivery and highest quality of facilities and services in support of the College’s academic mission. Balancing both operational and strategic responsibilities, the Domestic Bursar oversees the operational estate and the provision of a wide range of important services and facilities. The role is very ‘self-driven’ and success relies on the ability to identify opportunities and see these through to successful completion.
Reporting directly to the Bursar and thence to the College Council, the areas of the Domestic Bursar’s responsibility include; new building projects and refurbishments (which can range from small scale to multi-million pound projects), maintenance and property, grounds and gardens, portering and security, housing and accommodation, conferencing and catering, housekeeping, tourism and certain aspects of the Boat House. These departments are managed by a team of excellent Departmental Managers, and employ 148 staff members.
With clearly articulated need for future building developments, this position is also an outstanding opportunity to lead and manage construction and other projects relating to the College’s infrastructure, including the current project to develop the Porters Lodge and the planned project to redevelop the Kitchen in 2020/2021.
You will have a highly successful track record in senior level operations management and have the ability to successful lead and motivate a large team. Outstanding organisational skills are essential as are exceptional communication skills, and the ability to relate well, both formally and informally, to a diverse group of people.
We offer a generous benefits package and support with relocation and accommodation in Cambridge if required.
Further particulars about the post and the application procedure are available from the College website.
The closing date for applications is 2nd August 2018.
