We offer a really exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced General Manager, to lead our client's team providing speciality electronic components to the aerospace, medical, defence, space and industrial markets. This newly created role as General Manager will be to manage, control and take ownership of all activity at the Crewe Site of this highly profitable and growing business. The company will shortly be moving to a larger, purposely customised, premises which will be totally managed by a professional Project Manager. We are looking for a General Manager, qualified by experience (rather than by qualifications), ideally from an electronics or light electronics background. You will enjoy an operationally focused role, where you are involved in the day to day challenges of this exciting business supplying component modification and solder exchange services to a global market.

Key General Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, update and implement business strategic planning, including sales, financial performance and new product development
  • Oversee Operations departments to review production and operating reports and resolve operational, manufacturing and facility problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays and to meet future growth
  • Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports, data and analysis
  • Review and support engineering with fundamental changes or new technology used for new or existing processes or improvements to provide cost reduction, safety, customer requirements and market growth
  • Review operations and plans to meet requirements for sales planning and to ascertain manufacturing or outsourcing requirements to develop new markets
  • Review analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine department progress toward stated goals and objectives
  • Maintenance and development of infrastructure, equipment base and human resources/skills base, including the setting of objectives and managing performance of employees
  • Provide customer support and ensure development of long term relationships with customers
  • Tactical and medium to long term planning and the development and monitoring of key performance indicators in support of the conformance and continuous improvement activities described above
  • Identify capital equipment requirements
  • Overall responsibility for facilities management, including site maintenance and security
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation in line with company policy

Personal Specification General Manager:

  • Proven experience of working within electronics, or similar industry
  • Ability to organise people and processes
  • To be able to communicate work-related information verbally & in writing
  • To maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and collaborate with colleagues to resolve problems
  • To be able to deal with problems within a team
  • To identify opportunities for innovation and implement innovative ideas and improvements
  • Experience of fast paced, customer demanding production environments
  • Ability to build good working relationships
