You'll be motivated by playing a full part in growing online audiences to ensure Cheshire Live is the must-place to go for anyone wanting to keep up-to-date with news, weather and travel information. Along with this, you will ensure a Ensure a 'right first time' approach is taken to all content generation and help the editorial team and the whole business to continuously innovate and change at the pace we need to be a successful media business.

Role Responsibility
- To create compelling breaking news content that drives outstanding digital engagement for Cheshire Live stories and potential break-out live blogsTo monitor emergency services, social media, PA, and other media outlets to ensure we are first with breaking news, traffic and weatherSource third party content, including blogs, video, audio and pictures, where appropriateTo manage and post into appropriate Facebook groups To keep the content desk and social media teams updated at all times on live breaking newsTo run break-out live blogs when required for big storiesTo develop breaking news stories for the main news feedTo make out-of-hours decisions on setting up break-out liveblogs and to create those live blogsBuild a personal brand on social media and interact with readers/audience accordingly, in line with Reach policiesDevelop a small number of 'patches', identified working with the Content Editor, to source off-diary stories from away from live newsEnsure content is written with strong search engine optimisation in mindEnsure content is correctly tagged following agreed conventions Ensure content is produced with the correct metadata at all timesEnsure all copy is legally and IPSO compliantTo actively contribute in formulating and delivering new ideas and content streamsTo keep up-to-date with all developments in liveblogging and the telling of live news and to share learnings with colleagues
- Undertake company/editorial projects and any other duties from time to time as reasonably requested by management.To show flexibility in role, in terms of shifts and duties when required Maintain the highest personal standards of professionalism and integrity at all times within the framework of current legislation and Reach's editorial and company policies, and ensuring these standards are upheld across the newsroom
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone with at least two years reporting experience, preferably NCTJ qualified (or with equivalent time-served experience or qualifications) and a track-record in digital storytelling. You will be adept at sourcing stories through social media and knowing how to promote your stories too, you'll be as at home in a Facebook group building up your community contacts as you are meeting a councillor for a coffee.
