James Jones & Sons Ltd is one of the UK’s largest timber companies with core activities in sawmilling, I-Joist and pallet manufacture. We operate five sawmills throughout Scotland; an engineered wood manufacturing plant in the north of Scotland and have ten pallet and packaging operations across the UK.
As part of our development plans for the business we are recruiting various roles at our Stevens Croft site near Lockerbie, South Scotland:
Reporting to the Site Production Manager you will be responsible for all the production activities of our Mill3 sawline at Stevens Croft. The sawline operates over a two-shift system and you will be responsible for overseeing both production shifts. Working closely with the engineering team and shift supervisors, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Mill3 sawline operations are fully compliant with all health and safety standards. You will be responsible for maximising and improving production efficiencies. You will need to work closely with the Sales and Despatch team to ensure production is scheduled to meet customer commitments.
Mill3 is a modern, highly automated sawline and is part of our Stevens Croft complex of timber processing lines. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is driven to further improve and progress the operations. You will need to demonstrate the ability to lead a large production team operating over a two-shift pattern and you need to have the technical skills to further improve the production efficiencies through close liaison with the site engineering team. You will need to have a proven track record at a management or supervisory level in a similar manufacturing environment
These roles will require compliance to Health and Safety procedures and written work instructions. The successful candidates must have the ability to reasonably communicate in English as well as comprehend written instructions.
