Our internal audit team ensure we meet our regulatory obligations, comply with our service standards and procedures and manage our risk - read on to find out how you can help. So what's the job? This is an Internal Audit job to work within our wider Risk and Best Practice team (compliance/business assurance). This is not a finance related role. The role will see you conducting internal audits to assess and provide independent assurance that the firm's risk management, governance and internal control processes are operating effectively. So you'll be planning and organising your own work, reporting on your findings, making recommendations, and providing guidance. Interpersonal skills are key for this role as you will manage relationships with a variety of people across our firm. You will also need to be able to operate audit software and computer systems efficiently and effectively. This is just a snapshot - we have a more comprehensive job description. The role is a 12 month contract position to cover maternity leave and is based in our prestigious Newcastle office on the Quayside. Ideally to work 3 full days (Weds/Thurs/Fri). Who will I work with? As Internal Auditor you'll be part of the wider team and report in to the Audit Supervisor and the Audit and Information Security Manager. You'll also work closely with our Partners, Lawyers, Directors, Managers, Legal Secretaries and Support teams. Again, it goes without saying that you'll need effective communication skills and the ability to influence, challenge and engage our people at all levels. Ok so what qualifications and experience do I need? You'll need to be a self-starter with a positive and motivated approach, professional at all times, supportive to colleagues and able to prioritise. The role also requires an investigative and inquisitive mind, high attention to detail and the ability to manipulate large amounts of data and compile detailed reports. You'll also need to have a technical background and previous compliance, risk or audit experience. Legal experience will be an advantage but if you don't have this background our experienced team will guide you through all the processes and procedures. What makes it great to work here? Womble Bond Dickinson is a full-service transatlantic law firm.
