Seeking Trainee Accountant - Cambridge (Outskirts)
This is an exciting position for candidates who have some experience of working within an accountancy practice that are looking to further their career into becoming a qualified accountant. You will need to be currently studying your AAT or ACCA alongside holding practice experience to be suitable for this role, therefore, if you do not have these skills we would not be able to progress your application.
Start: ASAP
Location: Cambridge (Outskirts)
Hours: Monday - Friday 9.00am - 17.30pm (some flexibility around start and finish times can be offered)
Salary: Negotiable!
Benefits: Study package and exam support available, 28 days' holiday per annum (inclusive of Bank Holidays), For each completed year of service, up to a maximum of 5 years , the employee will receive an extra day of holiday, Auto-enrolment pension scheme in operation
The purpose of this role will be to, over time, manage your own portfolio of clients, involving the following accountancy tasks:
• Preparing journal entries
• Completing general ledger operations
• Preparing VAT returns
• Preparing FCA compliance reports
• Closing and preparation of monthly financial statements
• Reconciling and maintaining balance sheet accounts
• Preparing financial reports and tax returns
• Preparing analysis of accounts
• Running year end closings
• Administering accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Preparing budgets and cashflow forecasts
• Account/bank reconciliations
• Processing expenses reports
• Preparing year-end audit files
• Preparing R&D tax claims
Alongside this you will also assist in the shared administrative tasks which include:
• Maintaining timesheet records on billing software, allocating time and expenses recharges as appropriate to clients
• Answering telephones, routing calls, taking messages
• Attending networking events
• Assisting other functional departments within the business as may be required, which may include assisting with company secretarial, payroll and/or administration workloads as and when required
• Any additional duties which the Practice may require from time to time
Skills and Experience Required:
• Good level of education with relevant practice experience
• Currently studying AAT or ACCA
• Year-end accounts experience essential
• Flexible and adaptable attitude - able to work independently and as part of a team
• Hands-on approach with willingness to assist in other areas of the business
• Confident with good communication and grammar skills
• High level of computer literacy. Experience in Xero, Sage, Caseware, Word, Excel and TaxCalc preferred
