Full-time, 37 hours per week Fixed-term two years
Reading Borough Council is currently looking for an experienced tree
surveyor to join our growing team responsible for the maintenance of
trees on public land and commercial work for private customers and
clients.
You will work with the Council's Tree Officer to carry out formal
inspections of trees, and record these on the Council's database. You
will undertake technical assessments of trees, providing specialist
advice, and resolving enquiries from clients.
A detailed and up-to-date technical knowledge of your subject is key.
You will have extensive experience in tree surveying, with a
Professional Tree Inspection qualification, or a diploma in
Arboriculture. You will be able to identify and take appropriate
action to deal with defects in trees, carry out aerial inspections and
provide written reports. You will be computer literate, able to use
email, Microsoft packages and a database. You should be
self-motivated, courteous to customers and a good team worker. A full
European driver's licence is required for the role.
Your main responsibilities will include updating and managing tree
inspection records, offering sound expert advice relating to tree
management and safety, advising Council planners and insurers, and
being a credible witness in the case of insurance claims. You will
also assist the Tree Officer in assessing work and providing
quotations for commercial work.
Benefits include membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and
employer provision of all necessary training. Most work is local to
Reading.
Please do not send a CV: for the purposes of equal opportunities, we
can only accept Reading Borough Council application forms.
Closing date: 27 July 2018.
