Youth Engagement Worker - EmpowHER (South)
Location: Gloucester/Bristol
Contract type: Fixed term contract until Dec 2020
Hours per week: 35
Salary: Circa GBP 23k per annum

EmpowHER is a two year partnership programme between UK Youth (lead), British Red Cross and Young Women's Trust funded by the spirit of 2012. Our aim is to increase girls and young women's life chances through volunteering and social action.

What you will be doing...

The EmpowHER youth engagement worker will work to inspire young people to see the benefits of volunteering - new skills, networks, experiences and fun - and to arrange opportunities for trying out short term supporter activities. This role will require frequent face-to-face work with youth workers and young people out of office hours and frequent travel locally and to national meetings in London or other locations.

Covering the Midlands, this role will be based out of our Coventry office and will cover an area including Coventry, Birmingham and Solihull.

About the team...

The EmpowHER youth engagement worker will be part of a team of 3 placed throughout England reporting to the EmpowHER manager. Extensive liaison will be required with local BRC staff and volunteers, local participating youth work staff and young people to ensure a range of opportunities to take action and identify skills development are offered.

What we are looking for...

Educated to a degree level or equivalent by experience, you must have a recognised qualification (minimum level 3) in youth work with a working knowledge of legislation relevant to working with and supporting young people.

You should experience in working with young people in a variety of settings and of working with volunteers or staff who support them. You should also have:

* Experience of project management and implementation of action plans

* The ability to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally

* Interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, conflict resolution skills, a facilitative/consultative approach, presentation skills

* IT Skills with competency in Microsoft Office applications
