Reporting directly to the Director of Prudential Risk Oversight your role will be accountable for ensuring that the Society remains resilient to the Liquidity and Market (including Pension) Risk it is exposed to. Given the risks the Society is exposed to, the role holder will be responsible for providing the Chief Risk Officer with comfort that the society holds sufficient funding and capital to meet these risks. Your core responsibilities will be to: * Deputise for the Director of Prudential Risk Oversight in Board Risk Committee and Assets and Liability Committee. * Represent second line oversight in key regulatory interactions, covering the technical remit of this role, such as ICAAP and ILAAP. * Independently oversee and provide assurance regarding first line business compliance with regulations applicable to Capital, Liquidity and Market risk. * Work with the Head of Credit Risk Oversight to oversee the Credit Risk in the Treasury portfolios, including investments and other counterparties. * Advise on and propose to the Board the Society's risk appetite for Capital, Liquidity and Market Risk. ensuring that the first line business teams remain within the defined risk appetite, through ongoing and targeted reviews of activity and specific risk topics. * Maintain a credible, coherent and complete framework for the management of Capital, Liquidity and Market Risk for the Society. These frameworks will be approved through the Asset and Liability Committee. * Provide independent oversight, to enable the Board to approve a number of the core annual regulatory submissions, including the ICAAP, ILAAP, Recovery and Resolution Plan and Liquidity Contingency Plan. These documents are ultimately approved by the Board. * Satisfy executives and regulators that this market, liquidity, treasury credit risk and funding management framework is adequate and operates effectively always. * Build and lead a highly technical team to effectively work with first line teams and support the oversight of Capital, Liquidity and Market Risk. This Senior Executive role provides a compelling opportunity for a recognised thought leader capable of advising, overseeing and challenging the risk management of Capital, Liquidity and Market Risk for the Society. Given the extensive breadth of challenge faced in this role, we are keen to attract an executive with the broadest range of demonstrable experience and technical competence to understand the activities across all areas of Treasury, financial markets and the associated risk management., We're looking for someone that will be evangelical about Capital, Liquidity and Market Risk management its use and the opportunities that it presents us. You will also need to have a strong balance of the 3Qs - intellectual quotient, emotional quotient and curiosity quotient, as in this role you will be expected to engage with a range of stakeholders across the business including the Head of Treasury, Head of Balance Sheet Risk and Chief Investment Officer in addition to regular interactions with the Leader of Finance and Efficiency and the Chief Risk Officer. The successful person will have or be able to demonstrate: * Extensive, direct experience of Capital, Liquidity and Market Risk management gained in a major financial services firm with a strong understanding of Treasury Credit Risk. * Deep technical experience in Capital, Liquidity and Market Risk, with a strong understanding of Treasury Credit Risk. * Robust knowledge of regulatory requirements and appropriate control environment, including very high ethical standards and a compliance oriented culture. * Significant experience achieving business outcomes via indirect influence rather than direct control. * Develop the skills and knowledge of team such that they have the expertise to achieve current and future business requirements. * Communication and influencing skills, including both the ability to explain technical concepts to broader senior management and external stakeholders, and to ensure team understands and supports overall strategic goals of the Society. * Experience of influencing at senior levels in Finance and Treasury, outside of line responsibility
