Mechanical Fitter
The Company
Our Client are a well renowned Global Manufacturing Company, who specialise in the Design and Manufacture of special purpose machinery. Due to an every expanding team, we are now recruiting for 4 Mechanical Fitters to join the team on a 12 month contract basis to be based at the Clients facility in South Manchester. The role may go permanent after the 12 month contract but is not guaranteed to do so.
General
The position of Mechanical Technician will report to the Production Manager, but may take instruction from other workshop technicians of supervisory position.
The Mechanical Technician will be engaged in the assembly of SampleStores, BioStores and related sub assemblies. To that end a general level of mechanical engineering understanding is required in conjunction with the specific skills identified below.
Technical Skills and Experience
Essential:
*
Must have served a recognised apprenticeship.
*
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions.
*
Familiar with Microsoft PC based software (Word, Excel, Outlook etc)
*
Working within a Health & Safety management system and willing to comply with all reasonable requirements.
Desired
*
Working within an MRP controlled manufacturing environment.
*
Working within an ISO 9001 Quality Assurance system
*
Pneumatic and hydraulic assemblies.
*
Brazing and installation of refrigeration systems.
Personal Skills
*
Self-motivated in the pursuit of daily production objectives.
*
Ability to work as part of a larger team.
*
Work Commitment - must be prepared to expend the effort required to meet production objectives
*
Problem solving - must be able to analyse issues logically to resolve technical issues.
Qualifications
*
Completed a course of Further Education study to City and Guilds level or higher.
*
Must hold a full driving licence

The client installs systems at customer sites worldwide. To that end, a significant portion of employees are required to travel and spend extended periods of time (2-4 weeks) away from home at certain times
*
A reasonable amount of overtime may be required at times of peak workload
