We are looking for a Lead Engineer to be primarily responsible for the management of engineering staff at a global heavy lifting company.
As Lead Engineer should be able to, and may be required to, take on the role and responsibilities of a Project Engineer.
You will be responsible for:
Personnel Management
Line manager responsibilities for Project Engineers and Assistant Project Engineers.
Lead by example and manage team morale, maintaining a positive and encouraging attitude within the team.
Allocation of Project Engineers to project, task and site work.
Keep track of deliverables and maintain deadlines.
Management of training programs and courses.
Manage the appraisal system.
Assist in the recruitment process for Project Engineers and Assistant Engineers.
Assist in dispute resolution.
Technical Management
Manage and follow through issues raised by Project Engineers regarding equipment, drawings, documents etc.
Assisting in the development of internal quality and technical systems.
Report to Technical Manager on High Risk projects.
Technical Support
Provide technical support to Project Engineers and Assistant Project Engineers.
Mentoring of Project Engineers and Assistant Project Engineers.
Health and Safety
Internal Interfaces
Attend weekly operations meeting.
The Lead Engineer reports to the Technical Manager.
The Lead Engineer direct reports are the Project Engineers and Assistant Project Engineers.

The Ideal Candidate
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE - ESSENTIAL
Degree qualified Naval Architecture, Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineer
QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE - DESIREABLE
Appropriate HSQE qualification
AP ticket holder
EXPERIENCE - ESSENTIAL
At least 5 years experience in heavy lift or other appropriate engineering industry sector
EXPERIENCE - DESIREABLE
Experience in a leadership role
Full range of heavy lift project experience
Other relevant engineering experience
SKILLS - DESIREABLE
Intermediate/advanced technical knowledge and ability
Advanced AutoCAD knowledge/application.
Advanced Microsoft Office suite knowledge/application
Intermediate/advanced FEM/other modelling software.
