Summary of Role

I am delighted to represent my client, who are market leaders within their industry. We are actively recruiting for two wood machinists to join a growing team, creating bespoke furniture.

The wood machinist will be responsible for using a range of techniques and materials to produce high quality wooden furniture frame components for our traditional upholstered pieces both from our standard range and within our bespoke service.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

* Making pieces using a variety of hardwood materials as per the job order specification and checking finished work is to the required specifications
* Responsible for safely and correctly setting up of machinery and tools including manual copy lathes, cross cut and rip saws, 2 side and 4 side planning machines, spindle moulders and sanding equipment.
* Sawing and cutting wood using specialist equipment and techniques to ensure they meet the required size and length
* Monitoring machine operations to detect problems and report these to the Supervisor.
* Start machines, adjust controls and make trial cuts to ensure that machinery is operating properly
* Monitor operation of machines and ensure adjustments to correct problems and ensure conformance to specifications
* Feed stock through feed mechanisms, shaping to produce desired components
* Ensure the work area is kept clean and tidy
* Ensure health and safety procedures are followed in a responsible manner
* Any other reasonable task as requested by your supervisor

Skills & Qualifications (Essential & Desirable)

* Experience in the set up and operation of conventional wood turning equipment is a real advantage.
* Ideally experienced in a variety of machine techniques from an industrial background
* Skilled in spindle work, ring fence work, lathe wood turning
* Close attention to detail
* Ability to work to tight deadlines
* Ability to problem solve as required
