Wessex Internet is an award winning rural Fibre and Wireless ISP in the South West that currently supports 2200 customers with 2500+ devices, 110 masts and over 350kms of private fibre. The network is growing rapidly at over 5% a month to meet the high demand for its wireless and fibre services.

Role Overview

We are seeking an accomplished, pragmatic, organised analyst to be part of the network support team providing 2nd line support to customers by telephone. Who will also participate in the expansion of an existing WISP & fibre network, maintaining its health and security.

The successful candidate will require a demonstrable knowledge of networking, IP technologies, routing and switching, and have customer support experience.

Responsibilities

  • Answer support calls, providing 2 nd line technical support to customers by phone.
  • Be part of the team that monitors and maintains the wireless/fibre network.
  • Assist in the configuration and deployment of network devices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University (or equivalent) degree in computer science, engineering or related field or 2- 3 years professional experience relevant to this role
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience working in a customer support environment.
  • A working knowledge of routing and switching hardware e.g. Cisco / Juniper. Mikrotik experience is essential.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP stack and OSI model, L2 and L3 switching and routing technologies including OSPF / BGP / MPLS.
  • Have a pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • Strong self-organisational skills
  • Be capable of learning new skills/technical environment
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Driving Licence essential
