ICT TECHNICIAN

Salary:  Band 2, £16755 - £17391, SCP 9-13

37 hours per week, full time

Required for September 2018, an experienced and committed IT technician to support the Network Manager and ICT users in school. The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students and staff. 

The main duties include:

  • Assisting the Network Manager in the deployment and maintenance of IT equipment and software.
  • Assisting the Network Manager in the installation of PCs and other IT hardware.
  • Resolving Helpdesk queries, whilst maintaining accurate, up-to-date records of the work carried out.
  • Resolving software and hardware problems.
  • Liaising with Network Manager and onsite Maintenance Team to assist in the running and terminating of network cabling.
  • Undertaking any other tasks which may be required from time-to-time by the Network Manager.

Required competencies

  • Knowledge of Windows 7 and Windows 10, Microsoft Office 2013/ 2016, desktop and laptop hardware and peripheral devices.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Knowledge of SIMS is desirable

Key areas of responsibility will include troubleshooting and resolving desktop based system and printer related issues quickly in order to provide efficient and effective user support.

Strong problem solving abilities, excellent customer handling, being comfortable working under your own initiative, excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach to work are key for this role.

The successful candidate should have a good standard of education and sufficient relevant experience. Prior experience in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
