Major Duties/ Responsibilities
Works at the domain/portfolio level to develop enterprise strategies, priorities and project roadmaps.
- Defines and manages strategic roadmaps and priorities in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, IT Solution Delivery and business stakeholders
- Liaisons with Stakeholders for new project Demand Management, including request intake, clarification, business case development, estimation, budgeting and pipeline management
- Leads Discovery and Enterprise Analysis initiatives, and frequently leads project initialization activities prior to handing a project off to a project manager and lead BA for execution
- Partners with domain/portfolio line management on resource planning in alignment with project priorities and roadmaps
- Analyses options and drives solutions for complex business problems to deliver business value
- Coaches project resources on analysis approaches and the soft skills of communication, influencing, negotiation and leadership
- Leadership role in third party vendor and solution evaluation, selection and management
- Monitors the progress of projects to assure compliance with commitments, adherence to scope, and mitigation of risks
- Manages portfolio forums for cross-stakeholder collaboration and communication, including dialog with other internal and external organizations
- Special projects and leadership assignments, as assigned (e.g. Leading one or more work streams on a program or major initiative)
Decision Making
- Determines project sizing and related resourcing requirements and partners with the resource manager to assign resources to projects
- Actively realigns projects and work streams to meet changing needs and priorities
- Frequently defines overall approach for a new project
- Acts as an escalation point for project resources to help solve complex projects
Skills/Knowledge
- Outstanding leadership & management skills
- Advanced relationship building and management abilities at multiple levels
- Ability to think strategically and inform/influence Senior Business Partners, Senior Managers and Program Managers on portfolio, roadmap and program opportunities and risks
- Strong influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution abilities
- Advanced Business Analysis skills, especially Enterprise level analysis (cost/benefit + impact analysis)
- Advanced communication skills, including ability to communicate to all levels of the IT and business organization
- Strong organizational change management skills
- Ability to coach and mentor other team resources
- Ability to context strategic to tactical and vice versa
- Thinks in terms of both short and long term goals or objectives
- In-depth knowledge of the TJX business model, and a breadth of knowledge in and outside of Retail and IT
- Comfortable planning and operating under a range of applicable project methodologies, including waterfall and scrum/ agile
- Strong understanding of the inputs, deliverables and methodologies of other key Solution Delivery roles, such as Project Management, Solution Engineering, QA, DevOps, etc.
- Good working knowledge of the relevant domain (stores, supply chain, ecom, etc), plus the capacity to learn more over time, in order to become a credible domain expert
Minimum Experience
Relevant business experience with team leadership, Business &/or Systems Analysis and Project/Program Management.
Proven ability to cultivate and manage strong partnerships with business stakeholders and IT partners at multiple levels, including software vendors and System Integration consultants.
Proven delivery of positive impact across multiple complex projects or programs, and a career progression of increasing analysis and management responsibilities.
Proven mastery of the balance of the science and art of business analysis and project/program management, preferably in support of a variety of business operations and with international experience.
