POSITION: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
SALARY: up to GBP38,000
START DATE: asap
A Manchester based business who design and develop complex instrumentation from their Manchester head office are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to the team.
THE ROLE:
This is an opportunity to work for a very successful British electronics business that has grown into a global organisation. All R&D and manufacturing still takes place at their head office in east Manchester, with the business continuing to invest in new product developments.
In this role you will be providing mechanical design for electronic handheld devices, being given total responsibility for the mechanical redesign of the businesses core products (these are handheld devices with sensors, that are used in harsh environments). You will be assigned to a project team that includes electronic and software engineers. Experience working in a multi-disciplined team is therefore highly desirable, as well the ability to take a lead role in a team (as you will be the sole Mechanical Design Engineer on your team).
The ideal engineer for this role will have:
• 5+ years mechanical design experience
• 3D CAD package experience (Inventor is desirable)
• Some plastic injection moulding design experience
• Experience in designing for assembly into electronic products (i.e. designing products to integrate PCBs into small enclosures)
• Designing products for manufacture (i.e. understanding manufacturing processes)
• Designing products that look aesthetically pleasing
