Prestige Recruitment Specialists are currently recruiting for a Product Development Specialist to work within a large manufacturing organisation. Based within the Product Development Department you will report directly to the Product Development Manager.

Key Duties:
• Preparation of customer samples to agreed recipes and timescales
• Undertake yield/process/product trials as directed by the Product Development Manager/Development Technologist to enable accurate generation of product costs and to facilitate the transition of products from kitchen-approved samples into the factory. These trials to take place either on or off site as appropriate
• Undertake factory shelf life trials on all products ensuring that the correct temperatures and sampling regime is adhered to throughout the shelf life. Ensure all records and results are filed and maintained
• Assessment and development of ingredient supplier samples until they are in line with project brief
• In conjunction with Development Manager/Development Technologist liaise with Production/Technical to ensure an informed, trained Production Team who have all the necessary skills and required information for a successful launch of a new product
• Liaison with Engineering/Production/Technical to ensure all production lines and process machinery is operational and in place for product launches
• Assist Development Manager/Development Technologist in the co-ordination of pre-production runs
• Assist Development Manager/Development Technologist in the coordination of product launches, attend all product launches at all key stages to ensure compliance to specification
• Calibration of ovens, probes, fridges, freezers and scales as per the agreed schedule. Recording of results and taking of corrective action as required. Development Manager to be notified of any calibration failures
• Undertake competitor analysis as required. Record and maintenance of information on the appropriate forms
• Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen
• Other Ad Hoc tasks as specified by the NPD Manager

The successful candidate will have:
• Ability to work from recipe sheets to produce factory samples
• Awareness and understanding of factory equipment and processes
• Ability to work unsupervised in a factory environment, scaling up recipes and conducting trials
• Ability to assess factory feasibility
• Awareness of food quality standards
• Good motivational and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop a 'team' spirit
• Mathematical abilities esp. Percentages

Job Type: Full Time - Daily working hours are from 8.30am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday inclusive with one-hour unpaid lunch each day.
Pay Rate: GBP9.24
Term: Permanent
