8.45am - 5pm (36.25 hours per week with flexitime available)
This is an ideal position for someone degree-educated in social sciences or equivalent, with an understanding of counselling and psychotherapy research to join a large membership organisation. For the role of Senior Research Fellow an extensive understanding of counselling and psychotherapy research is essential. The purpose of the role is to develop research projects and protocols, undertaking research and evaluating outcomes in accordance with the organisation's strategy.
Principal accountabilities:
-Monitoring, analysing and interpreting developments within the field of counselling and psychotherapy research
-Identifying, developing, appraising and disseminating information on research to members and the wider professions
-Undertaking internal, external and commissioned research projects that contribute to the evidence base, writing reports and contributing to the preparation of funding bids
-Developing effective relationships and collaborations with relevant key groups to contribute to building the profile of the organisation
-Analysing and interpreting evidence and contributing to the preparation of high-quality, timely responses to policy issues and consultation exercises from Government and other external bodies to support the Head of Research in ensuring the organisation's responses to these exercises are robust, credible and evidence-based
-Responding to students, practitioners and academics with enquiries and signposting to promote the development of research
Additional accountabilities for the senior role:
Managing the timely delivery of research projects, acting as point of contact and providing support to ensure completion to agreed deadlines and budgets
Identifying opportunities for research funding and drafting/submitting funding applications
Taking the lead in designing and developing research programmes, overseeing projects and mentoring/supervising relevant research staff
The Research Fellow will ideally hold or be working towards a relevant Master's degree, for example in Social Sciences. For the Senior Research role, this would be a relevant PhD.
The role requires an in-depth knowledge of research methodologies and experience of undertaking and disseminating research. IT literacy is required, with experience of using SPSS to analyse data. Both roles require excellent planning and organisation skills, excellent critical appraisal and analytical skills and enthusiasm for research. For the Senior Research role, a record of authoring peer-reviewed research journal articles is desirable.
