ABOUT US
The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity.  We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland. We own and care for over 1,000 woodland sites across the United Kingdom and support the creation and management of woodland on land outside the Trust's own estate.

THE ROLE
Our Membership Development Officers work hard to engage with thousands of new supporters each year, inspiring people to join the Trust, increasing our income and enabling us to do the essential work for which we have become so well-known.

As a Membership Development Officer, you will attend our woodland sites and other various venues and events, promoting the Woodland Trust and informing the public about the wonderful things we do.  Your job will be to communicate the benefits of woods and trees, the necessity of our work and to enable people to make an informed choice to join the Trust as members.  We have targets but it's not all about numbers; the team genuinely enjoys their work, are passionate about the natural world, spreading the word about the importance of trees and woods in our lives and motivating people to add their voices and support our cause without feeling pressured.

There's nothing standard about the work either, each day is different. You could be working on your own or as part of a team, outside or inside. The working week is varied and includes weekends, bank holidays and unsociable hours, but it's worthwhile.

THE CANDIDATE
You'll need experience working in a fundraising, membership development or sales-driven environment, be an excellent communicator, have a genuine enthusiasm for working with people, have basic environmental awareness with a passion for woods and trees. You'll be resilient and able to work to targets.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
There's no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
