Tutor – Supported Learning BLUT66468
Joining us as a Tutor, you will provide tutorial and pastoral care for a group or groups of learners with learning disabilities/difficulties and monitor work experience activities. Acting as a Course Leader for a group (or groups) or students, you will take responsibility for their study programme to include Maths and English and take an active role in all aspects of student assessment and accreditation.
To be considered for this role, candidates must hold a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to participate in staff development in order to achieve one. With experience of working with and an understanding of the needs of LLDD, you will be comfortable managing students offering challenging behaviour and work successfully as part of a team. With excellent interpersonal skills and a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, you will be able to provide effective student support and have experience of working with external agencies.
We’d also like you to have the ability to teach and communicate at a level appropriate to the students and in a way that recognises their different learning abilities. Knowledge of current curriculum changes and the implications for LLDD learning strategies and SEND reforms is a must, as is an understanding of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post 16 sector, including RARPA.
The post will be based at Carshalton College and Merton College.
