Manufacturing Quality Engineer
Location: County Durham
Permanent: GBP35k - GBP37k PA + Benefits
I am currently looking for a Quality Engineer to provide support to a manufacturing area within a designated value stream, ensuring quality of product during manufacturing process and leading Quality improvement projects. Through a complex manufacturing process, using high-value capital equipment that involves a mix of mechanical, electrical and process engineering technologies.
The site works on a continuous shift working pattern and there is a high emphasis placed upon equipment availability and adherence to world class standards of operation, Quality and maintenance
The successful candidate will have responsibility for the overall Quality for a series of respirators manufactured at Aycliffe from within their designated value stream, on a continuous shift pattern (This will involve some availability over the weekends depending on the business requirement)
The role will be office based but a significant proportion of the applicant's time will be spent interacting with products on the shop floor and in our QA Laboratories.
The role will entail standard office dayshift hours (36.5 hours/week) but some flexibility will be required as required. Travel will be required at times.
Job Responsibilities
*Ensuring Quality of product during manufacturing process
*Leading Quality improvement projects
*Maintain and improve all product and process CpK's
*Reporting on quality measurement indices
*Supporting supplier Quality activities
*Addressing internal and external customer concerns
*Key member NPI programmes - support manufacturing scale up to launch
*Translation of Voice of Customer
*Coordinate Product Quality risk assessments (PFMEA)
*New test method development
*Ownership of all high-level Product Quality Technical Documentation
*Be an integral part of the site Lean Management System within your assigned Production area.
*Knowledge of manufacturing continuous improvement
*Knowledge of statistical methods and software
*Experienced in SAP - ERP Program
*Ability to consistently deliver against targets
*Experience of leading Quality improvement projects
*Understanding and experience in Lean Management Systems
*Understanding and experience of NIOSH product testing requirements
*Understanding and experience in FDA Regulations
*Sound numerical analysis skills
*The ability to communicate effectively at all levels across the organisation and to facilitate cross-functional groups for problem solving activities
Qualifications
*The applicant should be educated to degree level in a technical discipline
*Lean/Six Sigma training is also preferred but not essential
*Accredited Lead Auditor Quality (Desirable)
*Quality organisation background
