We are looking to employ a multi skilled Maintenance Assistant for a short term contract or internal secondment to the end of December 2018, to carry out reactive or planned preventative maintenance across our Sports Facilities. 

The ideal candidate will be able to work with the minimum supervision, undertaking a wide range of “handyman” tasks to include various building fabric activities and have the ability to assist in the coordination of contractors & minor projects. 

The right candidate will be able to enhance & develop their knowledge & skills within the Building Services sector during the duration of this assignment. There will be opportunities for the successful candidate to gain experience in the monitoring & watch keeping of plant & equipment associated with the heating, cooling, ventilation & other building services.

It is expected that the candidate will possess some practical skills from the building trades or appropriate mechanical or electrical bias. Some knowledge of current H&S regulations & policies is also desirable, although training will be given as required.

A good attitude to, & understanding of, customer focus & service is essential, together with communication skills. Willing to work with a flexible approach that reflects changing priorities & the need to provide an adequate reactive response to some maintenance demands.

The post holder will report to the Sports Property Manager and will work closely with our Estates Department to ensure compliance with the University’s Health and Safety Policy and will be given the necessary training in respect of health and safety legislation and University safe working practice.
