Please note this role is 80% Learning and Development and 20% Operation HR.

You will be working in a team of 3 people and both are delightful! The company are a specialist Engineering company and they are looking for an experienced Learning and Development Advisor to join them.

HR / L&D Advisor

Over the past few years the company has invested in moving and modernising its manufacturing capabilities in pursuit of technical excellence and as a result we now house one of the most advanced Machine Shops in the South-East.

As HR / L&D Advisor you will provide full generalist support to the HR department and assist in the delivery of HR projects across the organisation; with a key focus on Learning and Development. You will be a key member of the HR team, responsible for delivering a professional, proactive HR service and the development and maintenance of the Learning and Development function. In this position you will have responsibility for the Production Trainer.

What is the role?

This will be on a permanent basis, working Monday - Friday

Typically you will be doing the following:

• Ensuring that training programs support the changing needs of the business by assessing and identifying employee/departmental training needs and encouraging employees to continuously develop their skills in their field of work.

• Ensure all teams have up to date training matrices, access to the relevant systems and tools they need to perform in their role as well as constantly reviewing and improving the training they require.

• Developing and delivering a Management Development Program.

• Develop and deliver internal L&D interventions using a range learning approaches, including online training where necessary, aligning with the company culture, vision and values.

• You will have proven generalist HR and L&D experience, a sound knowledge of employment legislation, excellent administrative skills and a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

• To deliver and constantly evaluate the Company Induction, recommending, developing and delivering improvements.

• Constantly measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of the training you deliver to continuously improve, keeping accurate records and managing administration requirements.

• Support performance and talent management, and develop targeted and relevant learning interventions.

• Generating best practice, considering advancements in the industry whilst always maintaining the culture and values.

• Ensure learning and development objectives are in line with the strategic aims of the department, and the wider business, and constantly evaluating and evolving them, where necessary.

• Demonstrating strong relationship building and networking skills to effectively partner with the business, and the HR team.

• Management of the company apprentice and work experience programmes.

• Liaising with external partners to facilitate careers and training events, including the local UTC, universities and colleges.

• Lead a range of HR projects.

• Provide support as required for investigations, Disciplinary Hearings, Grievance Hearings, Sickness Meetings, Performance Management Meetings, Health Reviews, Flexible Working Meetings and Appeals.

• Providing support in facilitating team days, as well as individual coaching when required.

• Actively seek feedback and seizing opportunities to learn and develop.

• Develop recruitment methods and campaigns to attract the best candidates

• Maintain the recruitment website and actively using social media

Core Skills for the Role

• You will be able to demonstrate a pro-active, positive and results-orientated approach with a focus on innovative approaches to constantly improve the L&D offering to the business

• You will have experience in a similar role with a primary focus upon L&D.

• You will have a confident understanding of the full training cycle - including learning needs, analysis, design, delivery and evaluation.

• You will be proficient and comfortable advising staff of all levels on a range of HR issues and best practice.

• Experience working within an manufacturing environment is essential

• You will be a natural presenter who is comfortable and experienced at facilitating workshops and meetings.

• You will be proficient at building relationships to influence L&D activity across the business.

• You will be experienced at analysing learning briefs and creating fit for purpose and commercially aligned learning interventions.

• You will have experience of, and be comfortable with, working with staff at a range of levels.

• You are discreet, professional and well-presented, with good communication skills.

Qualifications and Experience

CIPD Level 5 Minimum.

Degree Qualified in either a HR or L &D discipline.

Over two years' experience working within a manufacturing environment.
