ZSL's Discovery and Learning department is looking for an HLF Community Participation Officer, to join the team at ZSL London Zoo to lead on the development and delivery of community focused activities and events aimed at engaging new audiences with ZSL London Zoo's heritage.

The post will be responsible for building new and strengthening existing partnerships with local community groups and charities.

Overview

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. ZSL's mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. This is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at our two zoos, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, inspiring people to take conservation action.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Work in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the HLF Snowdon Aviary Restoration Project Activity Plan.
• Responsible for overall activity plan document, ensuring amendments are made and progress is regularly communicated to the HLF Project Manager.
• Work closely with individuals and departments who are involved in the engagement stream of work to set up agreed work plans, mile stones and deadlines, reporting systems and feed into associated work plans.
• Organise regular cross department project meetings for those involved in the engagement stream of work.
• Coordinate the budget allocation and provide regular updates to Finance and the HLF Project Manager.
• Ensure regular reports and written and collated from the various internal stakeholders. Provide to the Fundraising/HLF communication team as required.

Please note: Due to the nature of this role applicants should be aware that they will need to work some evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Applicants will also need to be able to work in an outdoor environment and in all weather conditions.
