Health and Social Care Trainer

Salary – Unqualified £20k Qualified 23k

Summary/Purpose:

Manage, review, assess and train a case-load of learners who are based in the workplace and are currently undertaking vocational apprenticeships and NVQs

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Visiting learners in the workplace and assessing them as part of their qualifications to ensure the successful outcome
  • Prepare, agree and review assessment plans with each candidate.
  • Create learner portfolios to agreed target standards and ensure they are submitted on time.
  • Keep up to date with developments in their subject area
  • Visit candidates at least once per month within the workplace to provide support, prepare action plans, undertake assessments and provide feedback on performance.
  • Undertake initial assessment of learners and assist in the learner actions planning
  • Efficient and effective operation of the assessment process in line with TLC strategy and policy relating to quality and the requirements of the awarding body Representatives
  • Carry out interim and exit reviews with privately funded, ESF and funded learners.
  • Deliver workshops, one to one instruction and/or training sessions relating to knowledge and skills development and to assess candidates in the workplace.
  • Effective delivery of work based assessment of Apprenticeships monitoring and target setting within the area of competence.
  • Conduct assessment, evaluation and progress reviews as appropriate. Provide regular and purposeful reports to employers, apprentices, learners and TLC so that there is a clear plan of action which is time bound for each learner and which allows completion with agreed target dates.
  • Maintain accurate records of learner assessments and achievements.
  • Manage and maintain learner folders in line with audit requirements.
  • Report to and liaise with nominated quality managers as required
  • Assist with development of the provision to ensure the programme is up to date
  • Promote apprenticeships, train to gain and full cost recovery initiatives with employers including encouragement of progression routes.
  • To work flexibly and efficiently, to maintain the highest professional standards and to promote and implement the policies of TLC and make the most efficient and effective use of TLC resources.
  • Manage and maintain learner folders in line with audit requirements.
  • Report to and liaise with nominated quality managers as required
  • Assist with development of the provision to ensure the programme is up to date

Promote apprenticeships, train to gain and full cost recovery initiatives with

employers including encouragement of progression routes.

  • To work flexibly and efficiently, to maintain the highest professional standards and to promote and implement the policies of TLC and make the most efficient and effective use of TLC resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of funding streams and eligibility criteria.
  • Undertake Health and Safety checks for learners on programme.
  • Ensure the full embedding of all Equal Opportunities policies and Health & Safety requirement (including Safe Learner Concept) are complied with and all candidates are given fair access to assessment.
  • Participate in and support the annual self-assessment process.
  • Assist in the production of reports, statistics, statements, statutory returns and other documentation as required by the Directors, Quality Managers, Qualification Specialists, Compliance Managers, Awarding Organisations, Government Departments and other external agencies.
  • Attend and participate in meetings within the organisation, as required.
  • Represent TLC at relevant events and generally supporting TLC’s marketing strategy.

Maintain annual record of CPD, minimum 30 hours (pro rata).

  • To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students with whom you come into contact.
  • Be conversant with, and operate, all appropriate information technology resources available, and to keep abreast, of developments in this area
  • Work to a range of performance indicators relevant to the services provided by the Department in order to ensure continuous quality improvement. Assist with the implementation of plans and systems as specified within the Total Quality/Continuous Improvement Strategy.
  • Additional duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Centre Quality Manager and Directors

Experience and Qualification

  • Trainer and assessor Qualifications (Not a requirement)
  • Occupational Competence (Requirement)  
  • Learning and Development facilitation
  • Experience in delivering training and support to individuals and teams
  • Full Driving Licence and use of own vehicle
  • Experience and track record of qualification delivery
  • Co-ordination and liaison with nominated quality managers, employers, learners and others
  • Demonstrate recent work experience in line with the Awarding Assessment strategy for the qualification(s) being delivered.
  • Demonstrate a creative and imaginative approach to student centred learning
