Head of HR and Training / HR Manager / CIPD
Nottingham
£48,773 - £60,967 + Benefits

Our client is the first not-for-profit energy company owned by a local authority. They were set up by Nottingham City Council to tackle fuel poverty and give people a cheaper, better alternative to the Big Six. They’re proud to be leading the way in trying to reduce fuel poverty for those who need help the most.

Our client is a national supplier, with over 100,000 customers and growing fast! They work with a number of other local authorities, such as Leeds, Liverpool, and Derby City Councils, by helping them to create their own energy brand in partnership with our client. With others due to launch soon, our client is proud to be at the forefront of publicly owned energy supply.

Our client is recruiting for a Head of HR and Training to provide commercially focussed strategic and operational support in order to achieve strategic business objectives. You will lead the development and delivery of the HR Strategic Action Plan and manage the HR function, embedding the new business model and leading on HR, Training and Payroll.

Key responsibilities will include driving performance improvements, managing positive changes and contributing to creative ideas on commercial behaviour and performance and will manage all HR contracts, ensuring managers and staff are provided with commercially focussed and high quality support. You will also lead on the learning and development provision, will work closely with our client’s payroll provider to ensure all staff are paid accurately and on time and will ensure that relevant targets, policies and procedures are in place.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in a senior level Human Resource Management role, with advanced knowledge of Employment Law and practical application in the workplace and must have experience in managing projects and leading on HR and Business transformation. You will be CIPD qualified to post graduate level or have relevant equivalent experience.

We are welcoming applications from strategic and analytical thinkers with experience of delivering HR strategy and HR action plans and the preparation of  board reports, identify impacts, business risks and performance data. You’ll have experience of managing payroll and will have an understanding of pension schemes and related company obligations. It is also essential you have the ability to understand the financial implications to resource planning, working closely with both the finance department and senior managers to deliver a balanced budget.
